My main goal (hope) was to find a job I would enjoy, as well as to understand as well as possible which direction to take in the coming years and decades — what field would suit me, what I like, what I'm good at, and what I still need to learn. I did manage to find a great job, though it was in some ways a matter of chance. I also gained new ideas and perspective on bigger-picture questions that people often spend their whole lives — or a large part of it (at least periodically) — searching for answers to, and this is where your greater influence would be most visible: your sharp, on-point questions, exercises, and comments are what I appreciate most. It's hard to say how they'll settle in over time and influence my choices going forward. You're very good at analyzing and identifying what matters most in the pile of information I shared with you. If I could suggest anything to strengthen further as you continue mentoring others, it would be: briefly summarizing and rephrasing the situation to make sure both sides are on the same page, and asking even more questions, giving even more exercises when they come to mind, and sharing your own perspective/analysis on the situation.
